Elon Musk reveals Tesla Cybercab at We, Robot event, driverless and no steering wheel in the car
During the We, Robot event, Tesla CEO Elon Musk unveiled a prototype of a fully autonomous car, called the Cybercab.

Elon Musk has once again captured global attention with the unveiling of the futuristic "Cybercab," a fully autonomous vehicle designed without traditional controls such as steering wheels or pedals. Introduced at the We,Robot event, this innovative creation is a key part of Tesla’s broader vision for a future dominated by driverless technology. The Cybercab not only pushes the boundaries of autonomous vehicles but also marks a significant shift in how people will experience transportation in the years ahead.
Musk envisions the Cybercab as a truly self-sufficient vehicle, requiring no human intervention for navigation or control. Unlike current autonomous driving systems that require drivers to stay alert and ready to take over, the Cybercab offers a fully hands-off experience. Passengers would no longer be drivers but could relax, work, or even sleep during their trips. At the event, Musk stated, "It will be cheaper than mass transit. Unsupervised, full self-driving capable cars should be available in Texas and California by next year on the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, as well as the Model S and Cybertruck." Production of the Cybercab, optimized for fully autonomous driving, is set to begin in 2026.
